WEEK 5: ROCIO JIMENEZ TOVAR.

Hi blackeyereaders!! How are going that easter vacations? I hope that you are being spending this time in having fun and relax.

The task 5 is about eLearning Tools (an eLearning Tool is a program, app, or technology that can be accessed via an internet connection and enhance a teacher's ability to present information and a student's ability to access that information).

I am going to evaluate the Angry Birds app, that is a 2009 casual puzzle video game developed by Rovio Entertainent. Inspired primarily by a sketch of stylized wingless birds, the game was first released for IOS and Maemo devices in December 2009. Since that time, over 12 million copies of the game have been purchased from the App store, which prompted the developer to design versions for other touchscreen-based smarphones.

Talking about the funcionality of the app, the tool can be scaled to accommodate any size class with the flexibility to create smaller sub-groups or communities of practice, has a user-friendly interface and it is easy for instructors and students to become skillful with in a personalized and intuitive manner, campus-based technical support and /or help documentation is readily available and aids users in troubleshooting tasks or solving problems experienced; or, the tool provider offers a robust support platform and the tool allows users to communicate through different channels.

According to the technical part, it can be embedded (as an object via HTML code) or fully integrated (e.g. LTI- compliant tools) into an LMS while maintaining full functionality of the tool. Furthermore, users do not need to download additional software or browser extensions, they can effectively utilize the tool with any standard, up-to-date operating system and utilize the tool with any standard, up-to-date browser.

Related with accesibility, the tool meets guidelines, proper use of the tool does not require equipment beyond what is typically available to instructors and students  and all aspects of the tool can be used free of charge.

Related to privacy the terms of Angry Birds state they may collect personal information and non-personal analytics information from its users. Angry Birds' terms also state they may collect mobile geo-location information from users to provide location related services and advertisements. The service may also share a user’s de-identified and anonymous mobile geo-location with third parties. In addition, the terms state the service may supplement a user’s data with information received from third parties in connection with demographic, advertisement, market, or other analytics based surveys or services.

The terms state the service may also combine information collected from its users with information obtained through social networking sites and third-party ad serving technologies. The terms do not state whether they may sell a user's data. However, the terms do state that the service or third parties may display behaviorally targeted advertising to users and use demographic and geo-location information as well as information collected from a user's hardware or device to track users to ensure that relevant advertising is displayed.

The tool has not been designed to support an instructor’s an instructor’s ability to be present with learners via active management, monitoring, engagement, and feedback, limited aspects of the tool can be customized to suit the classroom context and learning outcomes and the tool does not support the collection of learning analytics. Long story short, the app is not intended for school

The tool can be accessed, either through the download of an app or via a mobile browser, regardless of the mobile operating system and device. Design of the mobile tool fully takes into consideration the constraints of a smaller-sized screen, offers an offline mode and is funtional in different types of devices.

In summary, Angry Birds is a popular game that a lot of children plays around the world but there are some problems that show as that shouln´t be used in schools because the security is unclear in some aspects and and is not intended for the school.
